Men’s Golf Pennant report – Round 2

Men’s Golf Pennant report – Round 2

On another pleasant day, the Apollo Bay Division 2 squad made the long journey over the hills to Bustling Mortlake.
Losing Andrew Hill due to poor holiday scheduling, Alistair McKenzie was bought in as a replacement.

Guy Holman waited to the last minute to pick the order for the day.
He ultimately choose Don Wagstaff to take the role of Number #1 due to his good form and recent play of Mortlake.
The Bay never really clicked on the day and lost 5-2 to Camperdown.

Sitting in the clubhouse The bay were 5-0, Toby Caddy & Alistair McKenzie bought in the final 2 wins, salvaging vital individual wins to stay in 3rd spot.
Poor play by Guy Holman, wasn’t the start the bay needed losing 5&3.
When Don Wagstaff lost with 2 holes to play the bay relied on the lower numbers to reel in the points.
It didn’t happen with Michael Dougan, Ian Woodfield & Bob Craig all going down also.

The team will need a dominate performance after Easter against a Mortlake outfit, whom have only won 1 individual match out of 14.
The return of Andrew Hill will boost the squad, and with the Easter break comes a chance for improvement for all players.

At least the spirits were kept at a high with the returning bus trip yielding plenty of pit stops.

Ladder:

1.      Cobden 2-13

2.      Camperdown 1-8

3.      Apollo Bay 1-7

3.   Warrnambool 1-7

5.      Colac 1-5

6.      Mortlake 0-13
