GOLF: Friday Night Ambrose

Round 4 of the Friday night Ambrose was played 24^th February.
There was a run-away winner on the night with some of the leading teams falling back.

Team Greg Norman shot a 4 under par 28 (15 nett) to win the day, ahead of team Nick Faldo 34 (19 nett).

Team Ernie Els, whom are led by none other than the Illustrious J. Ellis finished in third spot on the day and now command a healthy lead with 1 round remaining.

Allot has to be said for Team John Daly. After weeks of good golf they finally closed the gap on the Ernie Els team. However, a combination of (I’m guessing) too many beers & too much banter between Perma & Flakey, saw them languish at the bottom of the days scores.

Final Round is Friday 2^nd March 2012; Make sure your teams are arranged.

As always hot food will be served and great raffles provided.

Sunday 12th February - 3rd Round Summer Cup

The third round of the summer cup was played on sunday with ideal conditions.
There was little wind to deal with on the coastal course, & fortunately the rain stayed away.
Charlie Fitzpatrick & Guy Holman looked to consolidate their leads from the first two rounds of the championship.
But it's now a bloke from Melbourn who could spoil the party for everyone.

Ian Woddfield, who has posted a nett, 61 & 59 took out A grade yesterday with a supberb 68 off the stick. With one more decent round, he will be very hard to beat.
Runner up in A grade on a countback was Mr. Don O'Meara, he showed he's still got it at 77 with a 71 gross, nett 59.

Winner in B grade on the day with a nett 57 was George Harrisson, who's handicap will be punished severely for an excellent round. He had a grin from ear to ear after his win, (if only he smiled more often)

Young Casey Ocarroll was runner up in B grade with a nett 60. Excellent stuff from the young lad who's getting back into the game thanks to his father Shane. I would encourage all the men to get around the juniors and encourage them to participate more often.

with the final round next sunday, G. Holman has the best 3 round score with nett 185.
187 sees Charlie Fitzpatrick not too far behind, with Colin Cioleman & D. O'meara also lurking.

However it's I.Woodfield that will need to be watched out for. another nett 61 could see him easily take home the bacon.

Wednesday 1st February results - Round 1 of 4 weeker

Round 1 of the first 4 weeker for 2012 was played last wednesday.
John Nankervis won A Grade with a top score of 41 stableford points, he was closely followed by Ken Johnson & Rob Kearton who both had 40 points.

The B grade winner and leader after the first week was Peter McIntyre Snr, he posted a remarkable 43 points, three better than the next best Doug Dalli 40 & Bernie Webster 40.

With cooler conditions forecast for the rest of this week, it could make the scoring more difficult.

Sunday Competition - Round 2 of the Summer Cup

The second round of the summer cup was played on Sunday 5th February in atrocious conditions to say the least!
No less than 9 players threw in the towel and left the course due to the wind and the rain.
The constant drizzle made it difficult to hold onto the clubs, however, the majority of the field finished with some posting some excellent scores.

Charlie Fitzpartick won the monthly medal with a nett 61, he also took the B grade honours with a win over Doug Biggs nett 67 (countback over Shane O'Carroll).

Guy Holman continued his impressive form comming home to win A Grade with a 73 gross - nett 64.
He narrowly beat Jimmy Black who also posted a 73 gross - nett 65.

After 2 weeks of stroke Guy Holman & Charlie Fitzpatrick have the lead in the summer cup (Nett 122), but with the best 3 of 4 rounds counting as the final score, anything could happen!

Round 1 Friday Night Ambrose

The first round of 2012's friday night ambrose was played in plesent conditions on 3rd of February.
All 9 teams showed up in full force to compete in the fun ambrose format.
The team of Ernie Els, lead by Jeremy Ellis, took the honours after the first round and are the leaders after shooting a level par 32.
They are 1 point better than second place getter's, Brian McKenzie's Tiger Wood's.

A sausage sizzle was enjoyed by all after the game and the bar was open for all to enjoy.
The second round will be played this friday at 5.30pm again, see you all there!
